Gantt View FeaturesAllows users to manually arrange the vertical ordering of events by putting an ordinal number at the start of the event or task title. This feature can be enabled/disabled on the "Miscellaneous" tab in Gantt View Options, or using the "Title Ordinal" toolbar button:
Title Ordinal Override disabled - events are arranged according to the start dates. This is the default sort order.
Title Ordinal Override enabled - Events are sorted by the numbers at the start of the title.
If an event does not start with a number, it will be shown below the numbered events, and sorted by start date.
Note how the numbers after the word "Event" are ignored in the last three events. The event title must start with a number in order to override the default sort order.
The actual sort order used is alphabetical, so it would support a scheme like 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b... or 1-1, 1-2, 1-2-1, 2-1... This makes it very flexible.
"Group by Calendar" takes precedence over Title Ordinals. When "Group by Calendar" is enabled, events will be sorted by calendar, then by title ordinals. If "Group by Calendar" is disabled, events from multiple calendars will be sorted together according to title ordinals.
At some point in the future I would like to implement the following related features:
- Automatic numbering by dragging event headers up/down
- Parent/Child relationships based on numbering schemes such as 1 (grandparent), 1.1(parent), 1.1.1 (child), etc.
